Mural completed in NoMa

On Monday we completed our mural along Alethia Tanner Park as part of NoMa in Color, an annual mural festival in Northeast DC. This marks the 10th year of murals along the Metropolitan Branch Trail, very close to VDC’s studio space in Edgewood. Shoutouts to Amanda, Jesse for all their careful coordination work, and my mural neighbors Autumn and Ro for being awesome.

The mural’s theme touches on the history of the site, as the MBT runs along a historic railroad (and now Metro) right of way. The locomotive contains a collage of imagery including DC’s street grids including Sherman and Grant Circles, found typography, botanical patterns, and some animals you might see along the MBT.

The expected duration of the mural is two years, after which a new generation of murals will be painted.
